Senior Nurse Manager, Health Services

Harbor's Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia.
Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 33-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 15-bed Memory Support Unit.
We are looking for a highly qualified Senior Nurse Manager for Health Services which includes Healthcare, Assisted Living, and Memory Support, to join our outstanding clinical team.
This position will work closely with our Director of Nursing and Health Services Administrator, as well as nurse managers and supervisors, and nursing staff to deliver high quality care for our residents.
The ideal candidate should have excellent nursing and leadership skills, a minimum of five (5) years of long-term care nursing experience in a continuing care retirement community, assisted living, and/or long-term care with at least three (3) years of senior nursing management experience.
The Senior Nurse Manager for Health Services (Healthcare, Assisted Living, and Memory Support), (HC/AL/MS) will assist the Director of Nursing (DON) with oversight of all nursing units and staff of Health Services, and is responsible for the success of direct care staff and nursing leadership of Health Services.
Responsible to implement and follow established policies and procedures, help develop staffing plans, reports, and budgets, and coordinate with internal departments and external partners and agencies to ensure high quality resident care, meeting the unique needs of each resident.

Responsibilities:
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the activities of nursing services in all areas of Health Services (HC/AL/MS), in conjunction with the Director of Nursing, adhering to current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations, rules, and policies at Harbor's Edge.
Assist in patient care as needed including admissions and discharges, rounding frequently to monitor and assist staff performance.
Advise senior nursing leadership of status of seriously or critically ill patients as well as changes in status.
Supervise development and maintenance of care plans, Individualized Service Plans (ISP), and UAI for each resident in coordination with resident/family, staff, DON, Medical Director, other physicians, and external care partners (e.
g.
, hospice, dialysis, etc.
), ensuring continuity of care.
Provide Health Care Oversight, as needed, as required for Assisted Living regulations (Department of Social Services).
Participate in resident Level of Care discussions, in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team.
Assist the DON with the oversight of staffing assigned units including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, recognition, employee relations, performance management, coaching, corrective actions, and separations of employment.
Work with senior nursing leadership to develop departmental budget and staffing plan.
Prepare reports and provide updates regarding residents' progress, staffing levels, and any challenges or concerns that arise in Health Services.
Assist the DON with coordinating an ongoing Quality Assurance program and provide appropriate plans of action to correct any identified deficiencies.
Maintain plans of correction with required education and follow-up, reporting any necessary changes.
Develop and maintain an educational calendar for all Health Services staff, ensuring all required education has been provided and completed in a timely manner.
Identify any additional training needs.
Inform the DON regarding the knowledge base of staff, including skill deficiencies, and assist with needed remediation.
Help develop, maintain, and update Nursing Procedures Manual, policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
Train staff and monitor compliance with policies and procedures (e.
g.
, safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, etc.
).
Maintain a reference library of nursing material and best practice resources available to staff.
Fill in as directed by DON for any staffing positions vacant due to emergencies.
Requirements:
Current unencumbered RN license in Virginia or Compact State with valid Adult CPR, BLS/AED Certification.
ISP and UAI certification (If not certified, will provide opportunity for training).
Current COVID-19 Vaccine required to support health and safety of residents and staff.
Strong desire to work in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC).
At least five (5) years of progressively responsible nursing experience in Assisted Living and/or Long-Term Care.
At least three (3) years of senior management experience, including strong nursing supervision and knowledgeable regarding regulatory processes, survey requirements, and guidelines pertaining to assisted living, long-term care, and memory support.
Some college level management courses, with bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
Able to perform all staff level functions within the department.
Skilled with clinical and diagnostic procedures, assessment, and documentation skills.
Plan, organize, develop, implement, interpret, and manage programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and resources necessary to provide high quality care.
Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, proper procurement and utilization of medical equipment and supplies, medical terminology, laws, regulations, regulatory processes regarding governmental surveys, and guidelines pertaining to assisted living, long-term care, and memory support.
High degree of credibility, trust, integrity, professionalism, courtesy, compassion, and patience with regard for the elderly resident population and rights, including discretion in handling their health information.
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and positive interactions with Community residents, family members, leaders, staff, internal teams, government agencies, visitors, external partners, and the general public.
Follow verbal and written instructions accurately and timely.
Positive role model with excellent, timely decision-making, organizational, and time management skills, attention to detail, high self-initiative, ability to work independently and as an effective team leader, utilizing critical thinking and sound judgment.
Must be willing to work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as well as in other positions, as necessary.
This position is considered essential personnel and must be available before, during and after inclement weather or any disaster situation.
Computer skills include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), spreadsheets, ordering/inventory programs, Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
